Sustainability
At Charlotte Stiffell we are constantly working towards reducing our carbon footprint, considering our impact on the environment throughout all our operations and processes. Our continual improvement runs throughout our business including but not limited to:
Client Consultations/Design Meeting
We are keen to meet all clients in person and for this we will travel to the consultation meeting in our electric vehicle. Future meetings we prefer to use e-meeting options i.e Teams/Zoom to cut down further on travel.
Sourcing of Fabrics
Our Lotte collection is fabricated using a combination of recycled materials with the addition of wool and polyester blends. Other materials used within the Charlotte Stiffell style range are sourced from UK fabric merchants, who value their quality and take pride in their expertise, which has been passed down from generation to generation.
In our fabric ranges, yarn is sourced from high quality, ethical UK suppliers who dye and weave wool using non-toxic processes and chemicals.
Our Suppliers
We use a wide range of suppliers where we source our materials from. We conduct vigorous research into assessing whether our suppliers align with our values here at Charlotte Stiffell, which we can assure that our customers support as well. We select our suppliers depending on their quality, sustainability, cost, diversity and inclusion practices.
Manufacturing of Garments
All of our Charlotte Stiffell styles are made in our UK factory based in East London. Here we are able to closely monitor our carbon footprint throughout the entire supply chain and adapt procedures to minimise our CO₂ contributions
Staff Travelling
We provide our staff with electric chargers at work if they drive in, however internally promote the ability to cycle and walk into work to help support carbon reduction. Our premises is located by a range of public transport systems to further support reducing our carbon emissions.
Packaging Solutions
For many years, we have used recycled material solutions for our packaging. We constantly strive to update to the latest opportunities to improve as the options available increase. We use biodegradable swing tags, sustainable calico for our suit carriers and organic cotton for our woven labels. We use biodegradable plastic carrier bags and flatpacks and use environmentally responsible courier services.
Deliveries/Courier Services
Depending on our client’s needs, Charlotte Stiffell will either deliver back orders in our own electric vehicles or we are proud to partner with DPD which use the most up-to-date transportation methods to reduce their environmental impact.
Recycling of Fabric & Client Uniforms
We are proud to offer the services of Avena group for a direct recycling programme. Avena is a fabric recycling firm which specialises in textile shredding and reducing environmental impact by ensuring materials avoid going to landfill. We are able to arrange Avena to collect from your site to help create a circular product lifecycle. We also partner with a range of local charities where we donate unwanted uniforms sent back to us by our clients. We donate our surplus fabrics to local charities to help with local initiatives.
