Our 100% wool uniform’s journey begins in Sunny Patagonia.
Known for its Andean mountains, glacial valleys, and fjords, Patagonia provides an unpolluted ecosystem ideal for merino sheep. The merino sheep benefit from a diet of lush vegetation and fresh water, producing strong, long fibres that enhance manufacturing efficiency. Furthermore, this clean and sustainable environment results in whiter, cleaner wool.
Wool is sourced from the sheep by certified shearers professionally trained to ensure animal welfare throughout the whole process.
The Mill in Tome handles spinning, weaving, and finishing: ethically transforming wool to yarn.
- 50% of electrical energy is generated from solar power, while 50% is powered by a biogas generator using hazelnut shells! Therefore, our combined renewable energy usage is 100%.
- Up to 80% of water waste is treated and re-used, with at least 16% contributing to the process’s overall sustainability.
Once the yarn is spun and woven, it is then dyed at at Tome Mill. Adhering to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, the mill promotes sustainable and environmentally friendly practices as well ensuring high standards for employee health and safety in compliance with certified regulations.
- ISO 14001 is a family of standards by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) related to environmental management that exists to help organizations (a) minimize how their operations (processes, etc.) negatively affect the environment (i.e. cause adverse changes to air, water, or land); (b) comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements; and (c) continually improve in the above.
